New York, New York, USA - A display of boxing skills and intelligence
courtesy of Mikey Garcia. The Salido vs Garcia featherweight fight
became one sided in favor to the newly crowned WBO featherweight
beltholder.
Garcia floored Salido twice in the first round after he connected with a hook to Salido's chin. Salido, 32, was down in the canvas again in
Rounds 3 and 4 after getting caught by a right uppercut and a
left hook from Garcia
and
won the WBO featherweight title by unanimous technical decision after
the eight round.
Garcia dominated the action in nearly every round
before the fight was stopped due to a broken nose after an accidental
Salido headbutt.
The Mexican brawler hopelessly tried to come back with
his careless attack that pinned Garcia to the ropes. He would then
unload big looping left hands on his foe who tried to defend those
shots.
Salido couldn't sustain Garcia's attack, who smartly got away from the ropes and brought the fight in the center of the ring. Garcia would then retaliate with fast and accurate combinations that Salido has no answer.

A shortened fight went to the judges'
scorecards 79-70, 79-69 and 79-69. It was no surprise as Garcia took all but one of the
eight rounds, losing only the 7th round in two judges' cards and won the belt in his
31st fight and remained
unbeaten in the process.
