The major fight that fans want to see most this year is the fifth showdown between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao, according to a recent poll conducted on the RingTV.com homepage.
The poll question that asked "What fight would you most like to see
made in 2013?" was answered with more than 20,000 votes that were
distributed among seven possible significant matchups. Marquez-Pacquiao V
received the highest percentage of votes with 29.9%, followed by a
showdown between middleweight champ Sergio Martinez and pound-for-pound
king Floyd Mayweather, which garnered 23.4%.
A Mayweather-Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fight was a close third with 22.6%. A
fight between junior featherweight titleholders -- Nonito Donaire and
Abner Mares -- attracted 13.7 percent of the vote. The other choices
each attracted less than 4%.
Marquez finally beat his arch rival Pacquiao with a shocking
sixth-round KO in their fourth fight last December. Fans of the Filipino
icon, who held a 2-0-1 edge over the Mexican veteran in their first
three razor-thin distance bouts, obviously want to see if their hero can
get revenge in a fifth bout.
